SailNet.com Unfurls a New Web Design and New Features

0

Thornton, PA (PRWEB) March 10, 2006

SailNet.com, the world’s largest online sailing community, has launched a re-designed website with many new and exciting features and upgrades to enhance users’ experience. These changes include new forums, photo galleries, blogs, boat reviews and classifieds.

“Since launching the new website, we have already seen a 50% growth in activity from our members which has grown to well over 100,000 strong. Plus, it has resulted in a significant growth in orders at the SailNet Store” said Rob Proctor, CEO SailNet. “With hundreds of SailNet members online at SailNet eager to answer questions, share opinions and experiences, and help other members, the upgrades make the exchange between our members easier and more effective and enjoyable.”

New Sailing Forums — The old message boards were replaced with new state of the art forums in which members can now post pictures, subscribe to topics / threads, start and reply to polls, and easily post messages to share experiences and knowledge.

New Photo Galleries – Now SailNet members can easily post pictures.

New Member Blogs – Now SailNet members have the ability to create and publish BLOGS for free.

Upgraded Boat Reviews – SailNet members can now easily post their opinions, rate boats or search the reviews on boats they might be considering. There are over 3,700 sailboat reviews online at SailNet.com.

Upgraded Classifieds – This free service for SailNet members allows for easy searching and the posting of pictures along with the ads.

Boat Manager and Articles – The Boat Manager has been preserved along with all of the information that was entered into the old SailNet website as well as over 1,500 professionally written articles. New articles and content are being added every week.

“This was an aggressive project to re-design the SailNet website while preserving what was best on the site and replacing the old and antiquated features” said Jeff Jennings, President of SailNet Community. “SailNet members are really participating in our rapidly growing sailing community and taking advantage of all the benefits the new SailNet has to offer.” Jennings stated, “This is just the start. We plan to continue enhancing the new SailNet website to make membership even more beneficial to all sailors at any stage or there sailing life or experience.”

About SailNet.com

SailNet is the largest online sailing community with over 100,000 members with access to thousands of informative articles — written by some of the best-known authors in the sport. There are over 200 Boat Lists hosted by SailNet and an online store offering over 30,000 products.

SailNet was launched in 1994 as a resource where sailors could find everything they needed to support their own pursuit of the sailing lifestyle. Since that time SailNet grew to become the definitive Internet site for sailing. It has been recognized four years in a row as one of “Forbes Best of the Web” for content, resources and community. In 2001 the SailNet Store was launched.

Sailors are drawn to the SailNet Community from around the globe to share common interests, experiences and knowledge about their particular boats. There are a wide variety of sailing clubs and associations that participate in SailNet forums and the boat lists. Numerous other resources exist at SailNet to aid sailors in every phase of their sailing experience: from just starting out; through the purchase of a sailboat; to the long-term care, maintenance and upgrades for that boat; to an eventual sale.

The SailNet Community was acquired by Marine.com LLC in October 2006.
